London Lamar is a Democratic candidate seeking election to the Tennessee Senate District 33 seat. An experienced legislator, Lamar previously served in both chambers of the Tennessee General Assembly, holding seats in the House during the 111th and 112th sessions and in the Senate for the 112th and 113th sessions. During her tenure, she held leadership roles including House Democratic Caucus Secretary and served on key committees such as Finance, Ways and Means, and Judiciary. Her political engagement extends beyond elected office through active participation in progressive organizations, including serving as President of Tennessee Young Democrats and involvement with New Leaders Council Nashville and Emerge Tennessee. Lamar has received recognition for her public service, including being named to the Memphis Top 40 under 40 Class of 2017 and the Memphis Flyer Top 20 under 30 Class of 2015. She also holds a B.A. in Political Science with minors in Sociology and Intercultural Studies from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana. As she campaigns for the state Senate, her background highlights a long-standing commitment to legislative work and Democratic party organization within Tennessee.
