Mark White is a Republican candidate seeking election to the Tennessee House of Representatives for District 83. An incumbent who has served in the General Assembly from the 106th through the 113th terms, White brings extensive legislative experience and a background in education administration to his campaign. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Memphis and a Master’s degree in Conflict Management from Lipscomb University. Professionally, he served as the Director of the College of Leadership and Public Service at Lipscomb University. White’s legislative record is heavily focused on educational policy. During his tenure, he chaired the Education Administration committee and led the Education Administration subcommittee during the 1st Extraordinary Session. He also served on the Calendar & Rules Committee, as well as several other education-related subcommittees covering instruction, higher education, and K-12 issues. Additionally, White acted as Chairman of the West Tennessee Economic Development Caucus, highlighting his interest in regional economic growth. His community involvement includes serving as Vice President of the Greentrees Civic Association and founding the Global Children’s Educational Foundation. White has received multiple recognitions for his public service, including the 2014 Tennessee Chamber of Commerce Industry Award, the NFIB "Guardian" Award, and the CASA Association Legislator of the Year award in 2012. He resides with his wife, Kathy, their daughter Bonny, and two grandsons.
